Lincoln Burrows is accused of murdering Terrence Steadman, the
brother of the US Vice President. He is sentenced to death and incarcerated in
Fox River State Penitentiary, awaiting his execution.Lincoln’s brother, brilliant structural engineer Michael Scofield, is convinced of Lincoln’s innocence and will do anything to help him escape.
He commits armed robbery as a way getting thrown in to prison, where he joins his brother and other hardened criminals. In prison, he pretends to suffer from diabetes to gain access to the infirmary and as result, befriends prison doctor Sara Tancredi. The brothers' fight to stall the execution is helped by their friend on the outside, Veronica Donovan, who starts to uncover a startling conspiracy on why Lincoln was jailed. However, powerful people don’t want the truth to be revealed and Veronica and the brothers face numerous obstacles in their quest to find out who framed Lincoln.
In the meantime, the brothers, along with several other inmates, hatch up a complex and risky escape plan.
